there will never be another uncle jr! our favorite uncle of all time! :) but then again uncle jr. was everyone's favorite! their favorite uncle, brother, cousin, friend, etc. etc. etc. - we all thought he was the coolest (and most handsome) guy ever! and we all looked forward to his visits, especially when he came home around july 4th for LUMBEE HOMECOMING & the annual LOCKLEAR REUNION. he never missed those 2 events! uncle jr. was cosmopolitan (he'd been everywhere, met everyone AND had a story to tell about it!), had movie star looks, told the funniest (and dirtiest!) jokes, had the cutest laugh :), came up with some interesting inventions (guess you could say he was an 'AS SEEN ON TV' hopeful?), & loved to give you a big ol kiss/hug and tell you he loved you every time he saw you. he always made all of us nieces and nephews feel special! and he was so, soooo proud of his hometown & his tribe! he loved to tell folks his home was PEMBROKE,NC (UNION CHAPEL) and his people were the LUMBEE! we will miss you uncle jr., you were one of a kind!
love, your great nieces and nephews (grandchildren of Curt & Cat Locklear)
What a sweetheart. I have a lifetime of wonderful memories of my favorite uncle. I will miss him greatly, his smile, his laugh, his great hugs and always the kisses. The way his eyes would seem to light up and almost twinkle when he would first see and greet you. I Love you Uncle Jim, and I 'll see you later! !

Joe and I will always remember Papa Jim with great fondness. He was like a father to both of us and to our child and grandchild. We spent a lot of time with he and Bobbie many years ago when they lived in Crofton, Kentucky and we lived in Clarksville, TN. We used to enjoy seeing how much he loved the animals on their farm, and how much they loved him. He always had a kind word or a joke to make those around him laugh. We sometimes traveled together and it was always a great adventure. He loved going 'back home' to Pembroke, N.C. and we used to enjoy telling stories about growing up as Native Americans in N. C.
We are grateful for his military service, his godly counsel, and that he is with Jesus for eternity.
Our condolences to Anita and to all his family that we were privileged to meet over the years.
