Rufus “Jim” Junior Locklear, age 87, of Winona Court, KY, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at his home from natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with burial to following in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. There will be also a memorial Service at a later date in Pembroke, NC.
Mr. Locklear was born March 8, 1930, in Pembroke, NC; the son of the late Rufus and Sophronia Revels Locklear. He had retired from the US Army in Fort Campbell, KY. Later in life as a civilian he worked in the Commissary Supplies in Fort Jackson, SC. Rufus was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Streetman Kmecheck; his brothers, James Albert Lockett, Ottman Locklear, and Barnie Bess Locklear; his sisters, Vivian Locklear, Stella Mae Smith, and Ruth Spigle.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Roberta Jones Locklear of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Anita Kay Locklear Stevanus and her husband, Glenn Jr. of Clarksville, TN; his sister, Catherine Locklear of Pembroke, NC, and Josephine Ransom of Pembroke, NC; two grandchildren, Glenn Stevanus III and his wife, Mellissia of Clarksville, TN, and Chad Stevanus of Clarksville, TN.
