Phillip G. Fort, age 77, of Hopkinsville passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 at his home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Evans officiating with burial to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, Hopkinsville.
A native of Pembroke, KY, he was born on November 27, 1941, the son of the late James Wilkerson Fort and the late Willie Susan Nichols Fort. He was a pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy at Jennie Stuart Medical Center for 44 years. He was a member and resting elder at First Presbyterian Church, Hopkinsville. He went on many medical/dental mission trips to Nicaragua, where he led the pharmacy team. After retiring, he spent much of his time volunteering in the community. He served as Building and Grounds Chair on the Aaron McNeil House Board of Directors, treasurer for the Western Kentucky Presbytery, and volunteered preparing meals at the Salvation Army. He also participated in the Rock Steady Boxing program at the Hopkinsville YMCA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Ann Chesnut Fort in 2000; his brothers Doris Fort, Elmer Fort, and Steven Fort; and his sister Barbara Meacham.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Fort of Raleigh, NC; his brothers James Fort, Thomas Allison Fort (Dianna), and Wayne Fort (Dianne) all of Christian County, KY; his sister Joanna Watson of Hopkinsville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
