Neil W. Mason Sr., age 72, of Bradshaw Road, Hopkinsville, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Trigg County Hospital of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
Mr. Mason was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on March 18, 1945, to the late William “Bill” Tandy and Barbara White Mason. He was well known for his 30 plus years of service at the Minit Markets. Neil was a member of Casky Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and a Sunday School Teacher. He started the first Cub Scouts in Pembroke Elementary School where he was a Cub Scout Leader. He was also a Scout Master for the Boy Scout Troop #13. He was a fisherman, collector of Native American artifacts, love of history and nature and a huge UK Wildcat fan. He was a Christian man that never met a stranger; a teacher to all around him. He was a family man, a veteran of the US Air Force, a jokester, a giver that never asked for anything in return. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Pauletta Kay Barnes Mason; his brother, Bill Mason; and his sister, Dawn Askey.
Survivors include his son, Neil W. Mason Jr. and his wife, Brandy of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Rani Mason Mullins and her husband, Jim of Herndon, KY; his sister, Elaine Brown of Dickson, TN; and three grandchildren, Christopher Logan Hardison, Hailey Shea Mason, and Austin Reed Mason.
