Melvin Choate, age 67, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Brother David Tucker officiating and burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Sunday, August 15, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Choate was born in Cadiz, KY, on November 29, 1953, the son of the late Byron Choate, Jr. and Thelma Beatrice Oliver Choate. Melvin was working at the Department of Defense of Public Works and has been working there for the past 41 years. He was a veteran in the US Marine Corp. Melvin was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Todd Choate and his wife Stacey of Hopkinsville, Michael Choate of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Shannon Ellis and her husband Scott of Gracey; his brothers, Dannie Choate and his wife Ann of Tennessee, Tommy Choate and his wife Roberta of Gracey, and Leslie Choate and his wife Tracy of Cadiz; his sisters, Theresa Miller of California, Thelma Hendricks and her husband Robert of Cadiz, Ruby Kay Danes of Hopkinsville, Doris Choate of Cadiz, and Linda Compton and her husband Ricky of Gracey; and five grandchildren, Ryan Ellis, MaKenzi Ellis, Colton Choate, Reese Michael Choate, and Abigail Grace Choate.
