Margaret Ann McRae Dossett, age 87, of Hopkinsville, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a Celebration of Life Visitation at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
A native of Christian County, Margaret Ann was born July 11, 1934, the daughter of the late Harry and Nannie Belle Knight McRae. She was a member of Pembroke Christian Church for many years serving both in CWF and as a Sunday School teacher and later a member of Eastview Baptist Church. Margaret was a member of Jolly Canton Homemakers for many years where she enjoyed learning from their lessons, visiting and going out to eat with her friends. Margaret Ann served as a teller from Pembroke Bank for 37 years retiring in 2013. Prior to her banking career, she served as a bookkeeper for both JC Penney and Barnes Motor Company in Hopkinsville. Margaret Ann loved her family, friends and those she served while employed often offering a warm smile and helpful manner. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and loved to travel. Margaret Ann will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh N. Dossett in 1999; her first husband, Tommy L. VanCleave in 1960; and her infant daughter, Delinda Gayle Van Cleave in 1957.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Rae (Steve) Tucker and Nancy (Ray) DeCoursey of Hopkinsville; bonus daughters, Sharon (Dave) Henderson of St. Louis, MO; Carla (Jim) Tabor of Newburg, IN; bonus son, Hugh (Karina) Dossett Jr., of Pembroke, KY; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, honoring her memory with contributions to either Cornell Memory Center or Gideon’s International would be greatly appreciated by her family.
