Lou R. Guida, Jr., age 66, of Oxnard, CA, formerly of Hopkinsville, passed away on May 28, 2020, at his home in California, of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Brown officiating with burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM being conducted by Deacon Bill Sweet. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Due to the current restrictions to funeral homes, we are only allowed to have 33% building capacity in our establishments at any given time so please be understanding of these requirements. Due to social distancing recommendations, attendees to visitations and funerals must maintain at least six foot of social distance, if they are not of the same household.)
Mr. Guida was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 9, 1953, the son of the late Louis Richard Sr. and Darlene Fender Guida. Lou was in the US Navy for 6 years and the National Guard for 8 years. Then he was the officer in charge of the Combat System testing aboard the self-defense test ship for the Civil Service. He was of the Catholic Faith. Lou was a member of Ventura County Shriners and a Master Mason at the Channel Islands Lodge. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Guida.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Sandra Waldrop Guida of Oxnard, Ca; his sons, Louis “Louie” R. Guida, III and his wife Aubrey of Colorado, and Mark Guida and his wife Mindy of Alabama; his three brothers; his four sisters, six grandchildren, Aaliyah, Alyssa, Aleena, Jack, AJ and Emily Guida; and one great grandson, Tegan Keppler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the Children’s Shriner’s Hospital in Los Angles, St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Spina Bifida Association.
