Leland Monroe, age 69, of Cadiz, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Ray & Ray Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Monroe was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on December 21, 1951, the son of the late Author Frank and Vonnie Howell Monroe. Leland retired after 20 plus years as a Police Officer for the Hopkinsville Police Department and then went on to be a drug and alcohol counselor for Volta House. He was of the Catholic Faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife in 2019, Tamara “Tammy” Bennett Monroe; his brother, Charlie Monroe; and his sister, Barbara Monroe.
Survivors include his son, Christopher Monroe of Christian County; his four brothers, Jimmy Monroe of Hopkinsville, Wayne Monroe of Hopkinsville, Mike Monroe of Hopkinsville, Jerry Monroe of Hopkinsville; his five grandchildren and two great grandsons.
