Joyce Powell

Joyce Marie Wright Powell, age 79, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, at St. Thomas West in Nashville of natural causes. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2022, with Rev. Jeremy Hayes officiating at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home and burial to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until the service hour at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mrs. Powell was born in Fulton, KY, on June 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Grover C. and Eva Marie Willams Wright. She retired from Christian County School System as a Home Economics teacher for Attucks, Booker T. Washington, North Drive and Christian County Middle Schools. She was also the owner of Flowers by Joyce. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Gary Wright and his wife Carolyn.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Elmer Powell of Hopkinsville; her daughter, Suzanne Collins (David Sherman) of Clarksville; her brothers, Don Wright of Cayce, KY, and Ralph Wright of Paducah, KY; her grandchildren, Ethan Collins and Isabella Collins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ebenezer Cemetery at 6100 Butler Road Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
