Joyce Haley Mayes

   Joyce Haley Mayes, age 72, of Hopkinsville, passed away on November 17, 2020, at Vanderbilt Medical Center of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

   Mrs. Mayes was born in Trenton, KY, on January 11, 1948, the daughter of the late JD and Myrtle Newcomb Haley. She graduated Todd Central High School, Class of 1966. She was an accounts payable supervisor for Kentucky Derby Hosiery and Mapother & Mapother Law Firm. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Ann Haley and Patti Cook, and her grandson, Calvin Robert Mayes.

   Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Calvin Mayes of Hopkinsville; her sons, Daniel Mayes and his wife Angela of Hopkinsville, and Phillip Mayes and his wife Amanda of Clarksville; her daughter, Charlene Sullivan and her husband Danny of Huntsville, Alabama; her brother, Joe Haley and his wife Ruth of Clarksville; her sister, Margie Davis of Trenton, Bessie Mosley of Trenton, Linda Chester and her husband Maurice of Trenton, Edith Peacher and her husband Bobby of Clarksville; her eight grandchildren, Evan Extine, Taylor Extine, Madison Extine, Ashley Mayes, Emily Mayes, Kendall Mayes, Andrew Mayes, and Charlie Sullivan and his wife Melanie; and three great grandchildren.

   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Christian County Humane Society.
