Tribute

John F. Myers, Jr., age 90, of Hopkinsville, passed away on June 9, 2020, at Hearthstone Place in Elkton of natural causes. Funeral Services will be held at a later date in Michigan. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. (Due to the current restrictions to funeral homes, we are only allowed to have 33% building capacity in our establishments at any given time so please be understanding of these requirements. Due to social distancing recommendations, attendees to visitations and funerals must maintain at least six foot of social distance, if they are not of the same household.)
Mr. Myers was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 13, 1929, the son of the late John Francis Myers Sr. and Florence Marshall Myers. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving for 20 years. He then worked at a factory where he retired after working 22 years. He was of the Lutheran Faith, and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the 40&8 in Michigan. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death is his first wife of 52 years, Alice “Trudy” Haley Myers; his sons, Arthur Myers, and Keith Myers; and his sister, Delores Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Ina “Nell” Myers of Hopkinsville; his son, John F. Myers, III of Ypsilanti, MI; his two daughters, Sharon Myers Lapeer and her husband Bill of Hopkinsville, and Denise Myers Phelps and her husband Al of Napoleon, MI; his brother, Gilbert Myers, Sr. and his wife Cheryl of Bowers Beach Fredericka, Delaware; his six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made in his honor to the American Alzheimer’s Association at 6100 Dutchman Ln. STE 401, Louisville, KY 40205-3284.
