John Thomas Atwell, Sr., age 60, of Old Madisonville Road passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Danny “Moose” McCord officiating. Burial will follow at New Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service time at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
Mr. Atwell was born January 3, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of the late John Thomas Atwell, III and Dorothy Jean Earhart. He was a truck driver for Hopkinsville Solid Waste. He was a member and deacon of Kelly Holiness Church. He is preceded in death by his brother, James Clay Atwell and his sister Lisa Marie Wallace.
Survivors include his wife, Shelia Atwell of Hopkinsville; his son, John Thomas Atwell, Jr., and his wife Felicia of Ocala, FL; his daughters, Jody Lynn Atwell Wyatt and her husband Brad of Hopkinsville, Dovie Lacine Atwell Kuzma, and her husband James of Jemison, AL, Jessica Mulkey and her fiancé John Croft of Hopkinsville, Michelle Darling and her husband Chris of Hopkinsville, and Asleigh Collins of the home; two brothers, Wayne Russell Sperry of Cadiz, KY, Rickie Atwell and his wife Corie of Hopkinsville; three sisters, Debbie Morris and her husband Charles of Cadiz, KY, Tonya Atwell and her husband James of Toledo, OH, Sandy Puma of Ohio; fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
