Joe Thomas Marcum

Joe Thomas Marcum, age 75, of Christian County, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at his daughter’s home in Cedar Hill, TN of natural causes. Graveside Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery-West. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements. 

Mr. Marcum was born in Hopkinsville, KY on March 22, 1946, the son of Ruby Davis Marcum Kemp of Hopkinsville and the late Calvin Marcum and the late Phillip Hartsgrove. He was a veteran in the US Army, served in the Vietnam War, and retired from the TRad. Joe was a member of Sinking Fork Baptist Church. In addition to his fathers, Joe is preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Marcum; his stepbrothers, Danny Hartsgrove, Dean Hartsgrove, and Douglas Hartsgrove.

   Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Martha Lancaster Marcum; his son, Glenn Marcum and his wife Tonya of Pleasant View, TN ; his daughter, Nancy Hallmark and her husband John of Cedar Hill, TN; his step-son, Bob Lancaster of Hopkinsville; his brother, Danny Marcum of Hopkinsville; his stepbrothers, David Hartsgrove of Maine, Darrell Hartsgrove of Maine, and Darrin Hartsgrove of Texas; his sister, Nancy Carol Marcum of Clarksville; his stepsisters, Donna Markie of Maine, Doris Simmons of Maine, and Dayle Espling of Maine; and his five grandchildren, Gage, Gavin, Graham and Sydney Marcum and Savannah Hallmark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Gideon’s International.
