JoAnn Yates

Joann Gibson Yates, age 89, of Hopkinsville, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021, at her home of natural causes. Joint Graveside Services with her husband, Thomas, will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West with burial to follow. After 67 loving years, just a short brief time after her husband’s passing the evening before, Joann has gone home to be with the love of her life Tom. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mrs. Yates was born December 7, 1931, in Milburn, KY, the daughter of the late James and Nora Morris Gibson. Joann was a homemaker. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Gibson.

Survivors include her son, James Edward Yates and his wife Nancy Jo of Marysville, OH; her daughter, Nancy Yates Toliver and her husband, Alan of Hopkinsville; her brother, David Gibson of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Heather Thompson, Nicole Houghton, Erin Zurlinden, and Jimmy Yates; and three great grandchildren, Wilder Thompson, Avery Zurlinden, and Mia Zurlinden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made in her memory to memory to Pennyroyal Hospice at 220 Burley Avenue Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
