Jesse D. Shanklin, age 81, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away at 4:15 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY, of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Marquess officiating and burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.

Mr. Shanklin was born in Fairview, KY, on August 4, 1937, the son of the late Lindsey L. and Olean Nicholson Shanklin. He retired after working 40 years from Thomas Industries. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and a former member of the Elk’s and Civitan Club’s. He was a member of Parkway Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Shanklin; one daughter, Jennifer Highfield; two brothers, Joseph Shanklin and Kenneth Shanklin.

Survivors include one daughter, Jessica D. Shanklin of Mayfield, KY; one brother, Eugene Shanklin and his wife, Ruby of Hopkinsville; five sisters, Nadine Ellis of Hopkinsville, Mary Roberts and her husband, Dean Myer of Hopkinsville, Carolyn Wyatt and her husband, David Houser of Hopkinsville, Nancy Sue Duckett and her husband, Sam of Black Mountain, NC, and Martha Williams of Bremen, IN; two grandchildren Joshua Oden and Brianna Highfield; one great grandchild Chandler Oden; and several nieces and nephews.
