James Ervin Jones, age 83, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a Celebration of Life Visitation to be held at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Jones was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on April 24, 1938, the son of the late James T and Olis Lamb Harris. He was a Data Processing Manager for Navel Ordinance in Louisville, KY. Ervin was a member of First Baptist Church, a former member of 101 Club for UK and former member of the Red Coats at Jennie Stuart Medical Center. He is a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Knight.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Theda Utley Jones of Hopkinsville; his two sons, Bruce E. Jones and his wife Kerry of FL, Vince W. Jones of FL; his daughter, Rachel L. Rhoades of AL; his sister, Nancy Miller and her husband Donnie of Hopkinsville; his six grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Kyle, Kayla, Victoria, and Alexandra; and his twelve great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the American Lung Association or the Charot-Marie Tooth Association.
