PFC James Cletuis Williams
Private First Class James Cletuis Williams was killed in action on July 20, 1950, in the vicinity of Taejon, Republic of Korea, at the age of 19. PFC Williams enlisted into the United States Army on August 29, 1947, and served honorably with the Medical Company, 34th Infantry Regiment of the 24th Infantry Division. PFC Williams was killed in action while transporting patients from the Taejon Air Strip. Due to a large-scale enemy attack, the 24th Infantry Division was ordered to withdraw before PFC Williams could be medically processed and evacuated. His remains, although unidentified at the time, were transferred to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii, and buried with full military honors as a Korean War Unknown in Section U, Grave 675. Through exhaustive, investigative efforts, PFC Williams was successfully identified in 2018. His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart (posthumous), Army Good Conduct Medal (posthumous), Army Occupation Medal with Japan Clasp, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal (with 1 bronze service star), United Nations Service Medal, and the Combat Medical Badge.
PFC Williams was born on August 19, 1930, in Alton, Illinois, the son of the late Ward and Mary Williams.
Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM on July 19, 2019, with a Full Military Honors burial service at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home invites all who would like to pay respect to this fallen hero, the opportunity to pick up an American Flag in honor of PFC Williams at Maddux-Fuqua–Hinton Funeral Home, 700 Country Club Lane, and take part in the services of PFC Williams by displaying the flags along the procession route. The procession will begin at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2019, leaving from Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, 700 Country Club Lane, going east on Country Club Lane to Fort Campbell Boulevard. The procession will then go south on Fort Campbell Boulevard to the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery-West.
