Homer Laster, Jr., age 85, of Crofton, passed away March 12, 2021, at Heartford House Hospice in Owensboro of natural causes. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Josh Powell and Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating and burial to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Lewisburg, KY. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Monday March 15, 2021, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Laster was born on July 12, 1935, to the late Homer Lawson Laster, Sr., and Roberta McGehee Laster. He was a Baptist Minister for 34 years at New Ebenezer Baptist Church, Penrod Baptist in Penrod, KY, Antioch Baptist in Lewisburg, KY, New Hope in Clifty, KY, Mt. Pleasant in Lewisburg, KY, New Harmony Baptist Church in Benton, KY, Bethany Baptist in Evansville, IN, and Calvary Baptist in Gibson City, IL. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Lewisburg, KY, for 50 years and a member of Kelly Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers, Shelby Laster, Shelly Ray Laster, John W. Laster; and his four sisters, Dorothy Latham, Fannie Belle Hooper, Evelyn Laster, and Helen Laster.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Martha Mae Laster of Crofton; his son, Jeff Laster of Lewisburg, KY; his step-son, Ronnie Taylor of Christian County; his two daughters, Vickie Costello of Lewisburg, KY, Sherry Hill and her husband John of Williamsburg, KY; his step-daughter, Pat Taylor of Christian County; his seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Gideon’s International.
