Herbert Chester Thaxton

         
Herbert Chester Thaxton, Sr., of Herndon, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, at his home of natural causes. Funeral service to be at 4:00 PM Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with burial to follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements. 

            Mr. Thaxton was born in Pee Dee, KY, on February 23, 1930, the son of the late Walter Chester and Mary Johnson Thaxton. Herbert worked for the Federal Government in the telephone center office. He was a veteran in the US Army. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church. In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Marie Wright Thaxton; his son, Herbert Chester Thaxton, Jr.; his sisters, Lorene Harrell, Sara Price, and Vera Lucille Cannon.

            Survivors include his daughters, Lesa Ellen Farmer and her husband Neil of Beverly, and Susan Vernell Watts and her husband Alan of Pee Dee; three grandchildren, Justyn Stevenson and his wife Meredith, Jessica Thompson, and Jennie Watts and three great-grandchildren, Gracelynn Little, Joshua Little, Jr, and Faith Little.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to a Pennyroyal Hospice at 220 Burley Avenue Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
