Evelyn Mae Mowrey Stephens, age 82, of Dawson Springs, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Phaup officiating. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mrs. Evelyn was born a little farm girl in Alexandria, Ohio, on July 3, 1939, the daughter of the late Hiram N. and Phyllis Arnett Mowrey. Evelyn was Executive Administrative Assistant of Gene’s Enterprises, INC. She was a member of the Church of God and an avid supporter of all types of missionaries and charities. She was a member of the International Willow Collectors. Evelyn loved air travel, collecting things, Blue Willow, and junkin’, but what was most important to her was the time she spent with her family. Family was of the upmost priority in her life, she was the nucleus of her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Eugene Mowrey and Donald Mowery; and her three sisters, Lois Fown Redman, Irene Miller, and Jayne Stephens.
Survivors include the love of her life of 65 years, whom she met in a sod field on June 11, 1956, Gene Stephens of Dawson Springs; her two daughters, Connie Sleeper of Dawson Springs, Rachel McCain and her husband Chad of Herndon; her two sisters, Sue Schoedel and her husband Raymond of Columbus, OH, Nancy Ginn of Newark, OH; her five grandchildren, Lindsey (Jay) Shuecraft, Leslie (Tim) Petit, Aaron W.G. ( Magdalena) Sleeper, Aiden (Cayla) Reece, Autumn (Tommy) Hamilton; her nine great grandchildren, Nathaniel Shuecraft, Elijah Shuecraft, Abigail Shuecraft, T. Josiah Petit, Jackson Petit, Andrew Sleeper, Wyatt Sleeper, Liam Reece, Paisley Hamilton; and one great great granddaughter on the way.
