Dorothy Mae DeGeorge Carroll Cohoon, age 91, of North Edgewood Drive, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Skyline Medical Center, of natural causes. Funeral Services will be Monday, March 4, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Don Barger and Rev. Bobby Spurling officiating and burial to follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 3, 2019, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cohoon was born on November 4, 1927 in Christian Co., KY, the daughter of the late Frank and Hallie Freeman DeGeorge. She graduated from Pembroke High School in 1945. Dorothy was the former owner of Simmons Neighborhood Grocery on Kentucky Ave. She worked for Goldenrod Dairy and was a homemaker. She was a member and elder at Highland Presbyterian Church where she taught Adult SSC for over 45 years. Dorothy was a member of The Lioness Club, DAV Auxiliary and Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, James Thurman Carroll in 1954, her second husband, Irving Gilbert Cohoon in 1979; her daughters, Joy E. Carroll and Alice Cohoon Pryor, her sister, Lucille DeGeorge Wilkins.
Survivors include her son, Frank David Cohoon and his wife Carol of Hopkinsville, KY; her two daughters, Kathy Carroll Vaughan and her husband Jerry of Hopkinsville, KY, Betty Jo Carroll Pollock and her husband Robert, of Hopkinsville, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
