Donnie Mayes

Donnie Mayes, age 74, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. Graveside Services will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West with Bro. Brandon Boone officiating with burial to follow with full military honors. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements. 

Mr. Mayes was born in Todd County, KY, on February 26, 1947, the son of the late Douglas and Janie Irene Stone Mayes. He retired from the job he was great at with excellent customer service as a Traveling Insurance Salesman for Arthur J. Gallagher Insurance. He was a veteran in the United States Air Force. Donnie was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church where he had previously been a teacher of the Teen Boy Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Gene Mayes.

   Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janice Houchens Mayes of Hopkinsville; his son, Tim Mayes and his wife Gina of Gallatin, TN; his daughter, Elizabeth Sanders and her husband Adam of Hopkinsville; his brothers, Calvin Mayes and Jimmy Mayes both of Hopkinsville; his sister, Joyce Barnes of Indiana; and his four grandsons, Tim Mayes, Jr., Mark Mayes, Bentley Sanders, and Cameron Sanders.
