Dixie Lee Chapman

Dixie L. Chapman, age 90, of Pembroke, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at her home of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements. 

Mrs. Chapman was born in Manhattan, KS, on October 15, 1931, the daughter of the late Merle and Flossie Brasher Yount. Dixie was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a wife, mother, Grandmother, and friend. During her lifetime, she was a secretary and a county housing director. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Son, Fred L. Chapman and a daughter, Lori Haile; her brothers, Francis Yount and Walter Yount; her sister, Hazel Mills.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Wendell Chapman of Pembroke; her son, Mark Chapman of Lexington, KY; her daughter, Cathy Smith of Pembroke and Cindy G. Smith of Pembroke; her sisters, Norman Horton of Washington State, and Judy Vaught and her husband Andy of Oregon; 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to First United Methodist Church of Hopkinsville.
