Dennis Ray Boyd, age 75, of Hermitage, TN, formally of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Murfreesboro, TN, of natural causes. Celebration of Life Service will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Sunday, August 1, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Boyd was born in Boston, MA, on February 19, 1946, the son of the late Sherman Ray and Edythe Cavilla Boyd. He was a veteran in the US Marines where he received a Purple Heart Medal, a Vietnam Services Medal with three Bronze Stars, and a Presidential Unit Citation with a Bronze Star. Dennis was a retired supervisor over the marking department at Elk Brand. He was a member of Kelly Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Allen Boyd, Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Slaughter Boyd of Hermitage, TN; his brother, James Klim, Sr. of Boston; his sister, Sandra Boyd and her husband English Lacy of Hopkinsville; several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and several great great nieces and nephews.
