David Joel Gardner

David “Joel” Gardner, age 83, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at his home of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements. 

Mr. Gardner was born in Jerusalem, Arkansas, on November 15, 1937, the son of the late Jasper Hannibal and Alta Bea Hillis Gardner. He was a manager at Kress and Freds for over 46 years. He was a veteran in the US Army. Joel was a member of Southside Church of Christ, the VFW and Eagles.

Survivors include his son, Dean Alan Gardner and his wife Marianne of Tavares, FL; his daughter, Belinda Gardner McGuire and her husband Duane of Hopkinsville; his sister, Martha Gardner Graham and her husband Darrell of Hot Springs, Arkansas; his brother, James Hillis Gardner and his wife Lynn of Hot Springs, Arkansas; his grandson, Jonathan David Lancaster and his wife Lysa; his great grandchildren, Sophia Marie Nail, Taylor Brooke Nail, and Christian James Andrew Lancaster.
