Cecil Merritt

Cecil Merritt, age 87 of Hopkinsville passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at his home of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Maddux Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Kim Combs officiating and burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. The family has entrusted Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with handling the arrangements.

Mr. Merritt was born, on May 29, 1935, in Wayne, WV to the late Omer and Marie Merritt. He was a retired machine operator for Westate Construction. Cecil was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Chester Merritt.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Janice Adkins Merritt of Hopkinsville; his son, Darius Merritt of Hopkinsville; and two grandchildren, John A. Merritt and Marlowe E. Merritt.
