Carolyn June Johnston

               
Carolyn June Johnston, age 87, of Pembroke, KY passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at her residence of natural causes. A Visitation will be held for family and friends at Maddux Funeral Home in Pembroke, KY from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, January 27, 2020. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10:00 AM also at Maddux Funeral Home in Pembroke, KY with burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Ms. Johnston was born in Robertson County, TN on February 14, 1932, the third daughter of the late Elizabeth Townsend and James Clark Sanford Jr. She was a retired teacher, having taught for over 30 years at Pembroke Elementary School. She was also a member of the Pembroke Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, George M. Johnston and his parents Helen and Charles Johnston; her beloved grandson Benjamin Johnston; her brother, James Clark Sanford III; and her sisters, Linda Sanford Ezell, Joyce Sanford, Jane Sanford, and Dorothy Sanford Baldwin.
Survivors include her son, Charles W. Johnston III and his partner Mark A. Hicks; her five sisters, Joy Sanford Taylor of Columbus, GA, Claudette Sanford Noel and her husband Peter of Cadiz, KY, Jean Sanford, and Alma Sanford of Nashville, TN, and Elizabeth “Beth” Townsend of Columbus, GA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her honor to Pennyroyal Hospice at 220 Burley Avenue, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
