Bobby Dell Simmons, 87 of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 surrounded by family at the home of his daughter in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 12:00 PM Friday, June 4, 2021, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Dr. Josh Powell, Pastor of Kelly Baptist Church officiating and burial in Green Hill Memorial Garden at a later day. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, where Mr. Simmons was a former employee when it was Fuqua Funeral Home, has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mr. Simmons was born in Christian County, on November 11, 1933, the son of the late Isaac Shellie and Nevada Dawson Simmons. In addition to farming in the Pilot Rock community, Bobby worked at Thomas Industries until they closed, then retired as a maintenance worker from U.S. Tobacco. Bobby was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Kelly Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and a leader of the Golden Fifties senior group. Bobby was a veteran in the US Army during the Korean Era.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 ½ years, Shirley Clark Simmons, his second wife, Vernell Fuller Simmons and his third wife, Dottie Knight Simmons of 28 years. He was also preceded in death by his thirteen brothers, Herbert Simmons, Wesley Simmons, Lacy Simmons, Amos Simmons, stillborn triplets, Cecil Simmons, Grady Simmons, Smith Simmons, Hubert Douglas “Bud” Simmons, Beryl Simmons and Gene Simmons; his four sisters, Louise Solomon, Naomi Meacham, Nova Green and Willodean Wyatt; and his step-son, Gary Grace.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandy (Ted) Kearney of Clarksville, Tennessee, step-sons, Bruce White and Mark White of Hopkinsville and Ron (Rene) Grace of Riverside, California; grandson, Jayme Simmons of Hopkinsville, step-grandchildren, Amanda Grace, Angel Grace, Harmony Grace and Paul Kearney; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Simmons, Kaitlyn Simmons, Annabelle Simmons; and a host of nieces and nephews.
