Bernard Doss

Bernard Doss, age 90, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehab Center in Cadiz, KY, of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, August 9, 2021, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Spurlin officiating and entombment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Maddux Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements. 

Bernard was born in Williamson, West Virginia on September 20, 1930, the son of the late Grover and Effie Varney Doss. He served in the United States Army where he retired after 23 years. After his retirement he worked Civil Service and at Windel’s Big Star Grocery. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a Mason for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Bernadine Doss, his brother, and his sister.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margarette Hamby Doss of Hopkinsville; and his two sisters, Betty Justice of Yale, Michigan, and Maude Rice of Williamson, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
