Argyle "Sonny" Ray Powers Jr.

Argyle “Sonny” Ray Powers, Jr., age 84, of Cadiz, KY, passed away, Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at his home of natural causes. Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon on Friday, October 27, 2023, with President Patrick Wright officiating and burial to follow in Thurman-Powers Family Cemetery in Cadiz, KY. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 10:30 AM until 12:00 noon. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mr. Powers was born in Clarksburg, WV, on October 12, 1939, the son of the late Argyle Ray Powers, Sr. and Sylvia Summers Powers. Argyle was an iron worker for the local 787 and served in the United States Army Reserves. He loved motorcycles and cars. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sons, Jimmy Fallucco, and Stanley Baxter; and his brothers, Burhl Powers, Clyde Powers, and Mike Powers.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Burbank Powers of Cadiz, KY; his sons, Charlie Baxter of West Virginia, Ray Powers of Kentucky, Robert Calloway of Cadiz, KY, and Claude “Bucko” Baxter of Cadiz, KY; his daughters, Phyllis Matheny (Bill) of Baltimore, MA, Lacie Thurman (Barry) of Cadiz, KY, and Christy Swearinger of South Carolina; his brother, Delbert Powers of Ohio; his sisters, Linda Thomas (Randy) of Kentucky, Penny Hightower of Tennessee, and Jenny Wiseman (Bill) of West Virginia; his fourteen grandchildren; and his ten great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Pennyroyal Hospice, 220 Burley Ave, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
