Al Blackburn

Al Blackburn, age 76, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, at West Meade Place in Nashville, TN of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Cordero officiating and burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements. 

Mr. Blackburn was born in Uptonville, TN on October 29, 1944, the son of the late Thomas Carroll and Fannie Mae Bray Blackburn. He was the owner of Al’s One Stop in Gracey for 10 years. He worked at Phelps Dodge for over 30 years and Martinrea for 8 years. Al was a member of Set Free Ministries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ray Blackburn, his brothers, James Blackburn, Thomas Blackburn, Bobby Blackburn, Charles Blackburn and Gary Blackburn and his sisters, Ruby Fay, Sue Blackburn and Virginia Clark Frizzell.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Bertha Blackburn of Hopkinsville, KY; his son, Mancel Parker Jr., of Princeton, KY; his daughters, Sheila McCarthy of Hopkinsville, KY, Janie Knight of Hopkinsville, KY, Sherry Bush of Camden, TN, and Casi Travis of Hopkinsville, KY; his sisters, Kathy Pendergrast of Kirksy, KY and Lisa Hill of Meden, TN; his 15 grandchildren, Emily Gannon, Julie Love, Brandon Knight, Beth Mount, Ashley McKinney, Jason Parker, Chase Bush, Carloss Bush, Conner Blackburn, Tanner Blackburn, Landon Blackburn, Lillian Blackburn, Graycen Travis, Addycen Travis, and Evelynn Raye Travis; and nine great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the American Stroke Association.
