Marcella Ruth Blankenship, age 95, of Hopkinsville, passed away on November 28, 2020, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. Private Funeral Services will be on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Blankenship was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 23, 1925, the daughter of the late Russell E. and Nellie Bell LeClere Warren. She was an Insurance clerk for Jennie Stuart Medical Center and was a homemaker. She published a novel, New Horizons, in 2004 at the age of 79. Marcella was a Charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for over 62 years. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Warren Blankenship; her brothers, Clyde, Joyce and Kenneth Warren; her sisters, Vere Wittery and Deanna Roderman.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Theron V. Blankenship of Hopkinsville; her son Michael “Mike” Blankenship and his wife, Linda of Hopkinsville; her daughter, Therolyn “Terri” Parker of Hopkinsville; her sister, Lorraine Alley of California; her granddaughter, Lisa Parker and her husband, Jeff of Hopkinsville; and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Alexandra.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association or Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund.
