Charles R. "Charlie" Compton Sr.

   Charles R. “Charlie” Compton, Sr., age 67, of Old Canton Pike in Cadiz, KY, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at his home from natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with burial to follow in Flat Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
   Mr. Compton was born July 30, 1949, in Princeton, KY; the son of the late Bailey Blane Compton, Sr. and Marilyn Glore Compton. He had retired from Phelps Dodge. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Denise Phipps.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Augusta Long Compton of Cadiz; his sons, Charles Compton of Gracey, William “Mike” Compton of Clarksville, TN, Joe Compton of Clarksville, TN, William “Tony” Long of Hopkinsville, Michael “Mike” Long of Tucson, AZ, Christopher “Chris” Long of Clarksville, TN, and Nathan Long of Hopkinsville; his daughters, Linda Long of Clarksville, TN, Cindy Mathis of Hopkinsville, Jennifer James of Hopkinsville, and Lisa Long of Moreland, TN; two brothers Butch Compton of Gracey, and Earl Compton of Cadiz; twenty-two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
